Story
Chandra (Jagapati Babu) is the editor of the newspaper 'Addam'. He has a gang of friends (Rajiv Kanakala, Dasari Arjun and Archana) who help him with the operations. Chandra is a victim of home minister Raju (Sai Kumar) who murdered his father. Chandra wants to eradicate corruption in society. Towards this goal he conducts sting operations to get hold of secret tapes of important corrupt people. Sometimes he even resorts to blackmailing techniques. Likewise, Chandra gets hold of home minister Raju and blackmails him to do positive things like serving people. The rest of the story is all about how Chandra teaches Raju the greatness in being a good man and changes him into a positive political leader.
Artists Performance
Jagapati Babu fits the role perfectly and is predicatbly very good. Kamna Jetmalani has a limited role to play with very few dialogues. Sai Kumar fits the role of the villain perfectly and his execution is remarkable. Rajiv Kanakala and Dasari Arun Kumar are adequate. MS Narayana and Allari Subhashini provide comic relief. Ranganath plays the role of the hero's father.
Technical Departments:
Story - screenplay - Direction: The story of the film is somewhat different from the usual thirsting-for-revenge kind. Instead of killing the villain for murdering his father, the hero adopts a different technique and makes him realise the futility of what he has done. Director Ravi C Kumar has religiously followed Ram Gopal Varma in terms of shot division and lighting techniques. Ravi should be applauded for trying out something different in an honest way. But he must realise that entertainment should be blended proportionately with the seriousness of the theme otherwise it tends to be too 'heavy'. There seem to be some confusion in the characterisation of Chandra about his motives and working methods. The narration should have been more crisp. He has used the backdrop of a newspaper for screenplay convenience as choosing any other media like TV or Internet to do sting operations would not have a dramatic impact to run the single thread of hero - villain conflict throughout the film.
Other departments: Photography of the film is good. The technique of colour bleaching has been used all through the entire film. The colour bleaching looks good for serious parts of the film. But this technique for comedy and romantic scenes does not yield the desired results. Music of the film is mediocre. Editing is adequate. Production values are good.
Analysis: The first half of the film is slow. The latter part of the second half is interesting. Jagapati Babu looks very good throughout this film. The strength of the film is the story .The drawback of the film is lack of entertainment. The director has used all current news items like stamp scam, bank scam, sting operations etc to narrate the first half of the film. Only time will tell how the film fares at the box office.
